My goal as the Assistant SSE Dean For K-12 Outreach for the School of Science and Engineering is to match the resources at Tulane University with the needs in the education community for grades K through 12. I work with our Center for Public Service developing Service Learning courses and Service Internship opportunities for Tulane students in science and engineering. I also coordinate the Tulane Science Scholars Program, which brings 10th - 12th grade exceptional students to Tulane for Saturday classes with our faculty and graduate students. I serve as Fair Director for the Greater New Orleans Science and Engineering Fair; open to 7th - 12th grade students in our 4 parish area who have placed in their school science and engineering fairs. Additionally, I help coordinate the FIRST Lego League (middle-school robotics) and FIRST Robotics (high-school) competitions held in New Orleans. Finally, I serve on the Gulf Coast Math and Science Advisory Board, which is comprised of local industry and academia partnered with the school systems to bring research-based curriculum to our middle and high schools.
